Update:

Despite the criticism of the PGA playoff format by pundits and fans alike, yesterday the FedEx St. Jude Championship provided plenty of emotion for fans and nerves for golfers trying to make the top-50. In the end Rickie Fowler did what he needed to do to play for another week. One of golf fans’ favorite players, Fowler finished in the top-10 and finished no. 48 on the FedEx Cup standings. His playing partner on Sunday, Chris Kirk, didn’t have the same success and finished in 51st place, thus ending his 2025 season.

Other big names who didn’t make the top-50 are: Jordan Spieth, who started the week at No. 48, but after a lackluster performance, finished 54th in the standings. Not playing the BMW Championship will seriously hurt his chances of making the Ryder Cup team. The same can be said for Wyndham Clark, who could still be picked by captain Keegan Bradley, but not playing this week isn’t going to help him much considering he is No. 17 in the Ryder Cup standings.
