Meet Connor McDavid, a skilled Canadian professional ice hockey player who currently serves as the captain of the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on January 13, 1997, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, McDavid is widely recognized as one of the NHL’s most talented and dominant players.

During this season, McDavid has ranked first among all hockey players regarding goals, assists, and points. He has achieved an impressive record of 64 goals, 89 assists, and 153 points, the best performance since the 1995/96 season. McDavid has been awarded the Hart Trophy as the league’s most valuable player and the Ted Lindsay Award as the NHL Players’ Association’s most outstanding player. This is McDavid’s third Hart Trophy win, having previously won in 2017 and 2021. Additionally, he has been nominated for the award five times throughout his career.

Thanks to my teammates, who are my second family and without whom I would not be standing here now. I can’t wait to get together again because we still have unfinished business,” said McDavidin his award-winning speech.

McDavid was talking about how the Oilers were knocked out of the playoffs last season by the eventual champions, the Colorado Avalanche, and the same thing happened this season when the Vegas Golden Knights eliminated them in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Who’s Connor McDavid?

McDavid gained much attention in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) thanks to his impressive skills on the ice. In the 2014-2015 season, he captained the Erie Otters and delivered an outstanding performance, accumulating 120 points in only 47 games. This earned him the Red Tilson Trophy, awarded to the OHL’s Most Outstanding Player.

McDavid was selected as the first overall pick by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and immediately made a name for himself in the league. His exceptional speed, skill, and playmaking abilities have consistently put him among the league leaders in scoring, earning him multiple accolades, such as the Art Ross Trophy for being the NHL’s leading scorer and the Hart Trophy for being the league’s Most Valuable Player.

Throughout his career, McDavid has set numerous records and milestones. He made history in October 2016 when he was named captain of the Oilers at 19, becoming the youngest captain in NHL history. He has also achieved notable feats, such as reaching the 100-point mark in multiple seasons and recording several consecutive seasons with at least a point per game.
