Following a video on social media which appears to show his violent conduct, the former MMA and UFC star has found himself on the wrong side of the law.
No stranger to controversy, the American fighter is going to have some explaining to do to say the least, after video circulated on social media which appeared to show him engaged in a physical altercation.
Arrest warrant issued for Nate Diaz
According to recent reports, New Orleans police have issued an arrest warrant for MMA star Nate Diaz on Monday, after he was found to have been involved in a physical altercation outside of a bar in the city on Friday night. As per a police spokesperson, the warrant has been issued for suspicion of second-degree battery, though additional details about the scenario remain unclear. At the time of writing, Diaz was not yet known to be in the custody of law enforcement officials.
What did Nate Diaz do?
In the video, Diaz appears to be the individual who is seen choking an individual who has been identified as social media influencer, Rodney Peterson, during a brawl outside of a bar in New Orleans on Friday night. Peterson, who looks very similar to YouTuber and now professional boxer, Logan Paul, was wrestled to the ground in a state of unconsciousness after Diaz seemingly kneed him before putting him in a chokehold. Indeed, Peterson later took to social media where he showed the head injury that he allegedly suffered in the fight, before vowing revenge.
What led to Nate Diaz’s involvement in the fight?
It’s understood that Diaz was in New Orleans to watch longtime teammate Chris Avila at Misfits Boxing 6 on Friday. It was in fact a fight that Avila, who was participating in the co-main event won, when he defeated Paul Bamba by unanimous decision. What doesn’t paint a positive picture is that Diaz was also involved in a separate incident during the Avila’s fight. Netflix reality star, Chase DeMoor, found himself on the receiving end of Diaz’s animosity, when the former Ultimate Fighter winner suddenly turned and hurled a water bottle at him. The result was a brief altercation before Diaz was removed from the arena. With that we can only wait to see how this unfolds. Diaz of course remains one of the icons of UFC with a 22-13 record though he is now a free agent. Interestingly, the 38-year-old is set to make his professional boxing debut against Jake Paul, brother of Logan Paul, in August of this year.
