Why was Deontay Wilder arrested in Los Angeles?
Deontay Wilder was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday in Los Angeles, but remains defiant about it all on social media.
Ahead of reports that the long-awaited clash between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder is nearing a deal, it has now been confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department that the former WBC heavyweight champion has been arrested in the early hours of Tuesday.
Reports by TMZ, as yet unconfirmed, are that the champ’s Rolls-Royce was pulled over at 1:15 a.m. for having “illegally tinted windows” and a partially obstructed license plate.
Officers then reported that they searched the vehicle after smelling “burnt marijuana.” During their search, a small amount of cannabis as well as a 9mm pistol and took The Bronze Bomber into custody on a charge of “possession of a concealed weapon.”
It was reported that Wilder was polite and cooperative throughout the encounter as well as at the station. Wilder was bailed at 6:34 a.m. and later tweeted, “I’d rather be safe than sorry. The End.”
This arrest may have an impact on fight negotiations and we will have to wait and see how it all comes out. As we all know, in boxing, nothing is done until everything is done.
