The long-awaited showdown between legendary heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and YouTube-sensation-turned-professional-boxer Jake Paul is nearly upon us.

The fight was originally scheduled for earlier this year before a health issue forced a change of plans. Back in June, Mike Tyson suffered an health scare during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles.

“Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” Tyson said in a statement at the time.

He continued: “My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good.”

The rescheduled fight will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday, November 15 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT.

What did Jake Paul say about the postponement?

In response to the news, Tyson’s opponent Jake Paul said: “I fully support postponing the event so Mike Tyson has no excuses come fight night.”

The YouTuber, who made waves with his unorthodox journey from social media stardom to professional fighting, expressed confidence in his abilities. “When he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish.”

Friday’s fight will break new ground as the first boxing event to be streamed live on Netflix. Around the world more than 282 million households have an active Netflix subscription, meaning that this weekend’s fight is expected to be the most-watched fight of all-time.
