Why won’t Connor McGregor fight in UFC 303?
Dana White announced that the man known as The Notorious will not be able to take part in the Las Vegas card.
Conor McGregor will not be able to fight against Michael Chandler due to an injury he sustained before last week’s press conference. As a result, the main event for UFC 303, scheduled for June 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada, has changed.
What’s the new UFC 303 headline fight?
Dana White, the president of UFC, announced that the new headliner will be a bout between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka for the light heavyweight title. The fight between McGregor, the former featherweight and lightweight champion, and Chandler will be rescheduled for a later date this year.
White also revealed that Brian Ortega will face Diego Lopes in the co-main event of UFC 303. This change comes after Jamahal Hill, who was originally set to fight Carlos Ulberg, also had to withdraw due to an injury.
When was the last time McGregor fought in the UFC?
The rivalry sparked between McGregor and Chandler through The Ultimate Fighter won’t reach its climax due to the Irishman’s injury. The last time The Notorious fought in the UFC was on July 10, 2021, against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The Diamond emerged victorious at the end of the first round after McGregor sustained a tibia fracture.
