Zelensky’s emotional and patriotic congratulations to Oleksandr Usyk after unifying the world heavyweight title

All of Ukraine, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, celebrated Oleksandr Usyk’s victory over the weekend against Daniel Dubois, in which the boxer managed to unify the world heavyweight title for the third time.

“Thank you for the strength and inspiration you bring to the entire country with each of your victories. Thank you for fighting with Ukraine in your heart,” Zelensky shared on the social network X after Usyk’s victory in which he knocked out the British boxer in the fifth round.

In the weeks leading up to the fight, Usyk spoke frequently about the difficult times Ukraine continues to face, criticizing Russian leader Vladimir Putin and inviting U.S. President Donald Trump to live at his home near Kyiv for a week to experience firsthand the brutality of daily Russian attacks on civilians.

Congratulations also came from the Ukrainian military, who tried to see the fight as best they could. “What an incredible victory for Ukraine! Such victories are especially important for our nation at this moment,” reacted Foreign Minister Andri Sibiga. “We must understand that we have no choice but to win, just as Oleksandr did” wrote Valeri Zaluzhni, former commander of the Ukrainian army and current ambassador to the United Kingdom, in X.
