Aaron Ramsey’s time has (almost) come
After several weeks of waiting, the indications are that the Welshman is closing in on his Pumas debut.
It’s been just over two months since Aaron Ramsey was officially unveiled as a new signing for Pumas, and only now has the club provided its first substantial update on the Welsh midfielder’s status.
With mounting uncertainty among Pumas fans and a pressing need for more firepower up front, the latest news out of Pedregal is overwhelmingly positive. For the first time since his arrival, Ramsey is training at full tilt with the squad - and the club isn’t shy about showing it off.
When could Ramsey make his Pumas debut?
In a video posted on social media, Los Universitarios revealed that the former Arsenal star has joined full team sessions. Until now, Ramsey had been limited to individual rehab work due to a hamstring tendon injury. His participation in group training is a strong indicator that he’s nearing match fitness and could soon be available for selection.
That said, it’s unlikely head coach Efraín Juárez will throw him straight into the fire this Saturday, August 16, against Toluca. Rushing him into competitive action could be risky. Still, there’s a real possibility he could make a brief cameo late in the match.
If not this weekend, Ramsey’s full debut could come on Saturday, August 24, when Pumas host Puebla in Matchday 6 of the Apertura 2025 at Estadio Olímpico Universitario. The footage of Ramsey training with the full squad has sparked genuine optimism about what lies ahead for the club.
