América star signing’s unveiling on hold: why the wait?
Allan Saint-Maximin was due to be unveiled at halftime of América’s game on Saturday, but the Frenchman was nowhere to be seen.

Club América has signed a new reinforcement: French-born winger Allan Saint-Maximin, renowned for his blistering pace and ability to break down defenses. The dynamic attacker is set to join the ranks of Mexican soccer, donning the iconic yellow jersey of Las Águilas. However, fans will have to wait a bit longer for his official unveiling.
Saint-Maximin was originally scheduled to be introduced to the home crowd at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes during halftime of América’s Liga MX match against Querétaro on Saturday. But the Frenchman was notably absent from the venue in the Noche Buena neighborhood.
Saint-Maximin held up by paperwork
During the TV broadcast of the game, TUDN reporter Gibrán Araige explained that Saint-Maximin was unable to attend due to a pending work visa issue. He is required to travel to the United States to finalize the paperwork, which prevented him from being present at the match. His consular interview is set to take place in Houston, Texas on Sunday, August 10.
After completing his medical exams and finalizing initial formalities in Mexico City on Saturday morning, following his arrival the night before, Saint-Maximin must now wait for his visa to be approved before officially joining the squad. His availability for América is expected sometime next week, delaying his formal integration into the team.
