Ancelotti: Brazil must wait, Real Madrid are priority
With stories emerging from South America about the Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti making the move, clarity has been found in his camp.
The reporters at Globo surprised everyone this Monday afternoon with convincing information claiming that Carlo Ancelotti had committed to becoming Brazil’s national team coach starting in 2024. They even provided specific details, such as Ancelotti’s son, Davide, potentially joining the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in preparation for his father’s arrival.

However, sources close to the Italian coach have informed AS that none of this has been decided yet. Ancelotti has indeed spoken with CBF officials to express his gratitude for their interest in him as the future coach of the Canarinha, but he made it clear that his current contract with Real Madrid for this season is of utmost importance to him. He cannot split his focus between two positions.
Consequently, Ancelotti has scheduled a meeting in January to discuss the matter further, but without any prior commitments or agreements, whether verbal or written.
Gratitude not acceptance
Ancelotti’s belief is that when his contract with Los Blancos concludes in June 2024, he would then be free to sign with any team he chooses. While he is motivated by the offer from the most successful national team (akin to Real Madrid in the international world), Ancelotti is annoyed that the CBF and the Brazilian soccer community assume his gratitude implies an unconditional acceptance of their proposal.
Ancelotti regards his final season with the Spanish giants as a top priority and has promised the club president his unwavering dedication throughout the season. He aims to leave a lasting legacy, surpassing the 11 titles previously won during Zinedine Zidane’s tenure (he currently has 10).
For this reason, it is premature to assume that Ancelotti will definitely be the Brazilian coach in 2024, as no discussions have yet taken place regarding the project’s foundation, although it’s true that he already has significant support from the talented young Brazilians (Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Militao) at his club. But, until January 2024, there is nothing.
