Messi to earn more at Inter Miami than any NFL player

Argentine star Lionel Messi is set to sign with MLS side Inter Miami, and according to reports, will earn more than top earner Lamar Jackson.

Update:
Messi ganará en Miami más que cualquier jugador de la NFL

Lionel Messi’s move to Inter Miami will make the Argentine star the highest-paid player in the North American league and curiously, he will also take home a bigger pay packet than any player currently active in the NFL.

According to various reports, the World Cup winner will earn a salary of $54-$60 million dollars - that’s more than what Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson earns. Jackson recently became the highest-paid player in the NFL, with a salary of $52 million dollars.

The big problem for NFL players is the salary cap, which basically limits the amount of money an NFL team can spend on player contracts (including base salary and bonuses). It was implemented as a way for the league to control spending on player salaries and limit financial risks..

The NFL’s top earners

With a salary increase in his contract, Lamar Jackson became the highest-paid during the offseason for the following NFL season, but it will still be less than what former Barcelona star Messi is set to receive at Inter Miami.

Next on the list is Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who also received a new contract worth $51 million annually. Third place is occupied by Aaron Rodgers, who signed with the Jets for a salary of $50.21 million dollars.
