Andrés Guardado makes history with Real Betis
The Mexican midfielder started and played 60 minutes in the game against Getafe, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Andrés Guardado made history on Saturday by becoming the non-Spanish-born player with most games played for Real Betis. Guardado started the matchday 10 fixture, which ended in a 1-1 draw against Getafe.
Guardado surpasses Denilson
The veteran player was substituted in the 60th minute of the match by coach Manuel Pellegrini. With his appearance on Saturday, Guardado has now played 208 times for Betis, a club he joined in 2017 after stints with PSV, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen and Deportivo La Coruna, as well as Atlas in Liga MX.
The 37-year-old surpassed Brazilian winger Denilson with 207 appearances for the club. Benjamin (194), William Carvalho (182) and Aissa Mandi (173) are the other players who complete the top 5 for foreigners with the most games in Betis history.
