One of the most anticipated debuts this season already needs to be placed in front of a question mark. Arda Güler, the Turkish delight who has conquered the hearts and minds of the Madrid fans in just a few days of pre-season training in LA, is now a doubt for the game against AC Milan.

The game is set to take place at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, and it looks like niggling leg pain is going to keep the youngster out of action. It is not a worrying situation for manager, Carlo Ancelotti, but the proximity of the game leaves little doubt in his mind whether or not to rest Güler. Álvaro Odriozola was the other absence from the session.

Güler has excited the fans in a short time at Madrid

The right back is out of action due to a strain, and will miss the first test of the 23/24 season; his future, however, is not at Madrid, and Real Sociedad are trying hard to acquire the player. However, Güler is fully a part of the jigsaw at Madrid. The midfielder cut his holidays short to join up early with the side on July 10 and has tried since day one to convince Carlo Ancelotti that he can play a role in the team and that a loan is not an option.

Ten days later, he has done so perfectly, providing moments of class in training that have excited the fans tremendously, showing everyone watching that he was ready to play against the Champions League semi-finalists. Then came the injury.

Ancelotti has tried different systems so far

In the practice matches at the UCLA facilities, Ancelotti tried different starting XIs and different tactical schemes, and it is whispered that Arda will be Bellingham’s substitute as the number ‘10′ in the team. Another option would be to have the Turkish talent as a replacement up front for Joselu.

The next game, against Manchester United in Houston, could well be where we see Güler finally pull on the white shirt for the first time.
