Arsenal is out for revenge

Arsenal is at risk in the Premier League title race after dropping four points in recent games, but Mikel Arteta says they’re determined to keep the lead.

Arsenal lost the big lead they had in the Premier League by blowing 2-point leads in a row, dropping four points in back-to-back ties with Liverpool and West Ham. Rivals Manchester City now sit dangerously close, just four points beneath them at number two at the table.

Premier League title race: Arsenal vs City

The race for the Premier League title is too close for comfort now. Manchester City and Arsenal will play each other on Wednesday, April 26. But before that, Arsenal must face Southampton on Friday for a chance to extend the lead. City boss Mikel Arteta said he’s confident his side will bounce back and play a strong game to take back a comfortable lead.

I see a sense of revenge and determination to get it even better and that it’s not enough and you have to tweak it and demand more and more of each other,” said Arteta. “You can tell from the way they talked, the way they communicated in the meetings we had. It was all the right answers, they were very clear on what we want, how we’re going to do it and why it’s taken us all the way here. That’s what we have to continue.”

Arteta also insisted that the squad is focused on the game against Southampton today and not on the title race game with City.

“Nobody’s talking about what’s gonna happen next Wednesday,” said Arteta. “We have to become really boring to everybody and be really repetitive and just focus on what we have to do this morning and that’s it.”
