“I want Arsenal to win the league” -Chicharito
LA Galaxy forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez said he would prefer Arsenal to win the Premier League over the neighbors of his former team.
Arsenal is sitting at the top of the Premier League table, but with Manchester City dangerously close after Arsenal blew two 2-0 leads (against Liverpool and West Ham) in a row to allow them back in the race. Arsenal is currently four points ahead of City, but have played one more game than them.
Chicharito wants Arsenal to win
LA Galaxy forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez had some thoughts on the matter, as he used to play in the Premier League for Manchester United. A reporter was speaking to him about her team, Arsenal, and he first poked a little fun with her.
“Yeah, it was tough. I saw it. Good for my team though!”
He did say he was happy that it wouldn’t be a clear win, though. The title race is extremely close now, which keeps it interesting. He recalled winning the Premier League with United in that way, as the clear winners. And then he recalled losing in a “very painful way” to none other than Manchester City. At that point, Chicharito admitted he’d prefer Arsenal to win.
“I want Arsenal to win the league actually, cause I don’t want the neighbors to win,” he said.
His thinking is, if it can’t be Manchester United, then it at least should not be Manchester City.
Manchester City and Arsenal will play each other on Wednesday, April 26.
