Manchester United are interested in signing Matheus Cunha from Atlético Madrid and are willing to offer €50m to the LaLiga club. The Brazilian has declared in an interview with Globosporte, that he feels happy at the club and is not considering leaving. Atlético will not enter talks for him “or for any player”. The Brazilian’s release clause is between €70m and €80m.

Cunha had a good season last season at Atlético, his first. It was a season in which he knew how to win a place in the team with goals and hunger. He played a total of 1,277 minutes in 37 games. He scored seven goals, just over half that of the rojiblancos’ top scorers in the season (Suárez and Correa, both with 13). The 2022-23 season began with enthusiasm, but Cunha is now behind Morata, who scored a brace against Getafe. Morata is playing with confidence, he was the top scorer in preseason with four goals.

United could lose Ronaldo

Against Getafe, Cunha only played seven minutes. Liverpool also asked about him in January. Cunha is happy at Atlético, where he has a very close relationship with João Félix and Lodi, and he trusts his qualities to earn his place at Atlético again in this World Cup season. United need new signings after a dire start to the season and may also be planning for life post-Cristiano Ronaldo.
