Bale, Modric, Marcelo... club legends react to Real Madrid’s big Champions League win

Real Madrid fans got to enjoy their team again in what has been a very difficult season for supporters in Chamartín. Several former players – including Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Luka Modric – were just like any other fans on Champions League night as they enjoyed watching their former teammate’s victory.

One of the first to react during the game was Marcelo. The former Real Madrid captain celebrated each of the Uruguayan’s goals with the words: “Valverde, my love.” After the final whistle, the Brazilian shared this reflection: “What this kid does isn’t normal. How great it is to be a Real Madrid fan. Good night, now I can sleep easy. Hala Madrid and nothing else.”

He was not the only player to react to Arbeloa’s team beating City. Bale, who does not usually comment on these kinds of wins, posted a photo on Instagram showing the game on in the background at home, with his son wearing a Madrid jersey, alongside the message: “Hala Madrid.”

Modric was another former player who made his feelings known on social media. The Croatian wrote to several players on Instagram, including Vinicius, where he posted: “What a game!” He also left fire emojis on Antonio Rüdiger’s account.

Another former Madrid player who enjoyed the team’s performance on Tuesday night was Sergio Ramos. The center back has become a regular presence at the Santiago Bernabéu in recent games, and on Tuesday he once again posted a story showing himself at the stadium watching Madrid beat City.
