Baños will support Zendejas about playing with Mexico or the United States
The Americanist director spoke of the azulcrema attacker and made it clear that he will support the decision made by the footballer on which decision to represent.
Alejandro Zendejas has converted himself into one of América’s star players with his goals and assists. And because he has dual nationality, the Azul-Crema forward has the possibility of playing either with Mexico or the United States, but at the moment, he has not yet been decided which team he would like to represent.
América’s sporting president Santiago Baños made it clear that they will support the player whatever he decides to do. “We will support him in whatever decision he makes; I don’t want to get too involved or say any about it more because we know that it is a personal matter. We are happy that he is here, he was a great signing for us and he has shown a very similar level in his performances and hopefully we can see him in this World Cup,” he commented.
“I know him well, I see him every day in training and in games so I have seen for myself the mentality and professionalism he has. He can play wide or through the middle where Tano likes to play him - he can play in a multitude of positions, play with a strike partner like he did in Necaxa or through the centre in a 4-3-3 like he plays with the national team,” he added.
Finally, América’s sporting president admitted that Zendejas’ level is on the rise. “I think he’s a great player and he’s getting better and better, He’s 24 years old, he still has a great future ahead of him and we’re happy to have him”. he added.
América are currently on 22 points and sit second in the table. Next up for Fernando Ortiz’s team are Tigres at the Azteca on Sunday - the most attractive game of the day.
