Barcelona’s legal department is studying whether comments made by Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez during Tuesday’s explosive press conference could lead to legal action against the veteran executive.

Pérez accused Barcelona of corruption and claimed the Catalan club had “stolen” seven LaLiga titles comments that immediately intensified tensions between Spain’s two biggest soccer institutions.

Initially, Barcelona officials did not place much importance on Pérez’s remarks. Inside the club, there was a feeling that the Real Madrid president was damaging his own image through the tone and substance of the appearance.

Barcelona changes course after reviewing remarks

However, after taking more time to analyze Pérez’s repeated accusations, Barcelona decided to issue an official statement addressing the situation publicly.

The club released the following response:

“With regard to the press conference called by Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, we inform you that our legal department is carefully studying his accusations and statements.

“At this time, those statements are being analyzed and the next steps are being evaluated. When considered appropriate, the club will properly communicate any positions and decisions that are taken.”

Rivalry reaches another boiling point

The latest dispute adds another chapter to the increasingly hostile relationship between Barcelona and Real Madrid at the executive level.

Pérez’s comments touched on one of the most sensitive issues in Spanish soccer, with accusations connected to the long-running Negreira case continuing to fuel political and institutional battles across the sport.

Barcelona’s response suggests the club is now weighing whether the Real Madrid president crossed a legal line with his remarks, potentially opening the door to another major confrontation between the two giants of European soccer.
