Barcelona eyes Christmas friendly in the USA, but against who?
The Blaugranas have been heavily linked with a reunion with Messi, Alba and Busquets at Inter Miami, as more funds targeted.
When economic necessity tightens its grip, any opening in the calendar becomes an opportunity to bolster the finances of a club like Barcelona, which is currently struggling in this regard. For this reason, the Blaugrana club is considering the option of playing a friendly match in the United States during the Christmas holiday period, which could bring in a substantial sum of money.
Barça look to US for revenue streams
The Catalan giants would look to schedule this match between 20 December, which is when the Blaugrana team plays its last league game of the year against Almería at the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc, and 3 January, when they resume competitive duties against Las Palmas. The proposed match, according to discussions from within the club, would likely take place on 22 or 23 December, ensuring that all the players could spend the Christmas holidays at home with their families.
Interestingly, the idea is that the game would be played on American soil, but against a Mexican opponent, as most of the MLS teams will already be on vacation. More details to follow as we get them.
What is certain, to dispel some rumours, is that it will not be a match against Inter Miami, as they have already announced a tour in China. The reunion with Messi, Alba, Busquets, and Tata will have to wait...
