Barcelona interested in Premier League forward

The Catalan giants are already working on next season’s squad, with the attacking line being one of the areas the club wants to strengthen.

Barcelona are already working and looking for strategies to bring some quality players next season to help improve their squad and be more successful in Europe.

Things got rough for the LaLiga leaders lately, as they saw their 18-unbeaten streak across all competitions come to an end by losing to Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Europa League.

It was Barcelona’s most important game to date, after their 2-2 draw at Camp Nou one week before, but Xavi Hernández’s pupils were overwhelmed by the scenario and the Red Devils’ determination to come out on top.

Things got worse when Barcelona visited Almería on Sunday, as they tasted defeat again (1-0), although the most worrying was that the team struggled to create chances. Only in the final minutes of the game the visitors seemed to be looking for the goal.

Strengthening the attack

One of the reasons for Barcelona’s double collapse in Europe this season is that some of their best players haven’t been able to help the team in the most important clashes.

In the Champions League group stage up to seven players weren’t available due to injuries and against United, Barça couldn’t call upon the services of Gavi, Pedri, and Dembélé.

However, there’s another big reason why Els Blaugrana hadn’t shown their best version in the key games: players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres have been missing when the team needed them the most.

That’s why Barça are interested in landing a good forward that could be effective by playing alongside Lewandowski, and the chosen one is the current World Cup champion Julián Álvarez, according to TyC Sports in Argentina.

The Manchester City forward, who became a basic player for La Albiceleste in Qatar, has only been in the starting XI with City in 10 games, so Barcelona would be open to a loan deal next summer.

If Álvarez finally ended up playing at Camp Nou, Barça would likely need to sell another forward, with Raphinha and Torres being the most likely players to leave the club.
