Hansi Flick hinted at his side for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic with the minutes he gave out in the Copa del Rey match against Barbastro, where players like Gavi, Cubarsí, Raphinha and Casadó were rested, as well as Lamine Yamal. Now, all of them are set to start.

In goal, there was a question as to whether Flick will go back to Iñaki Peña or give Szczesny a run in this competition as he did in the Copa del Rey. In the end, the former Juventus man got the nod.

In defence, Koundé is untouchable, as is Iñigo Martínez, while Balde was rested against Barbastro. They are the three regulars in a four-man defence that has find a fourth member between Araújo - team captain and in negotiations with Juventus - and Cubarsí, who has performed well alongside Martínez until this point in time. The Spaniard was selected while Araujo returned to the bench.

In the midfield, the equation is clear. Casadó was rested for the Copa del Rey game, Pedri is simply fundamental and Gavi, who showed himself to be solid against Atlético, is the player to take Olmo’s place.

In attack, Flick has a Lewandowski who scored again against Barbastro and has back Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, who also did not travel for the Copa del Rey and are well rested.
