Current league leaders, FC Barcelona head to Pamplona on Tuesday night for their last game of the first part of the season as the league breaks for the World Cup this week. The Catalan side are also exempt from the first round of the Copa del Rey that will take place over the forthcoming weekend.

After his farewell last weekend at Camp Nou, Gerard Piqué has been included in today’s squad and could make play his last ever game in a Barcelona shirt at El Sadar.

A trip to Pamplona was one of Xavi’s first as Barça coach, with that game ended 2-2 and the coach complained about his midfield and failing to look what he wanted from the central players. On current form Frenkie de Jong should start tonight with his inclusion likely to see Gavi on the bench again.

Everything points to Xavi selection a similar XI to the team who played well and recorded a win on Saturday against Almeria at Camp Nou which will mean that the likes of Raphinha and Gavi will have to patiently wait their turn.

Expected FC Barcelona vs Osasuna (8 November 2022)

Ter Stegen will man the sticks with Christensen and Piqué as central defenders with Balde and Alba on either flank. Busquets, De Jong and Pedri will marshall the midfield with Lewandowski complemented by Dembele and Torres in attack.

Osasuna, LaLiga’s surprise package

After the mini-break of the three defeats against Getafe, Valencia and Villarreal in four games (the other was the draw at the Bernabéu), Osasuna have turned the corner and now occupy a Europa League position and are just one point behind the Champions League placed sides. Coach Arrasate manages one of the most consolidated units in LaLiga, with the Garcías (Unai, David and Kike), Moncayola, Barja, Torró, Budimir and, especially, the mercurial Chimy all performing well and the side from Navarra will be no pushovers for Barça at their el Sadar fortress.
