Barcelona, Real Madrid target Arda Güler seeks Fenerbahce talks over future
With several clubs eyeing his signing, Güler will reportedly pause his summer holiday to hold talks with Fenerbahce’s president and head coach.
Sought-after Fenerbahce prospect Arda Güler has reportedly demanded talks with club chiefs over his future, as a number of major suitors chase the 18-year-old Turkey international.
Güler and Fenerbahce to discuss summer exit
According to widespread reports in Turkey, Güler is to pause his summer holiday to return to Istanbul, where he will sit down with Fenerbahce’s president, Ali Koc, and the club’s head coach, Ismail Kartal.
LaLiga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are leading the race to sign Güler, who scored his first goal for Turkey in last month’s Euro 2024 qualifying win over Wales.
The attacking midfielder appears keen to join an overseas club this summer, and his affordable Fenerbahce release clause of €17.5 million (around $19 million) has encouraged teams to move for the teenager.
Barça out to pay Güler clause in instalments
Barça’s new technical director, former Blaugrana player Deco, recently travelled to Turkey to register the club’s interest in the player in person.
Given their financial difficulties, the Spanish champions would prefer to pay half of Güler’s buy-out figure now, and the other half next year. Barça’s proposed deal could see the youngster loaned back to Fenerbahce next season.
Madrid, who are in a position to pay the full €17.5 million right now, are adamant that Güler would initially have to go out on loan, as there is currently no room for him in Los Blancos’ squad.
