Hansi Flick will once again have to look within his own ranks to solve a problem. This time, it is about finding the best replacement for Frenkie de Jong, who will be sidelined for five to six weeks with a hamstring tear in his right leg. Marc Bernal appears to be the leading candidate, especially as the German coach has carefully managed his return over the past four months, with the Catalan midfielder delivering outstanding performances.

Bernal is likely to line up alongside Pedri, the positive news of the week. He made a brief appearance against Levante UD and is expected to start, potentially playing around 60 minutes. The Canary Islander, together with Raphinha, is currently one of the key figures Barça supporters are counting on as they dare to dream of something special this season.

Fermín López could complete the midfield, particularly after his outstanding second half against Levante, capped by an excellent goal. His display highlighted that he is in better form than Dani Olmo, who has struggled for consistency in recent matches.

In attack, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal have their places secured, while Ferran Torres could edge ahead of Robert Lewandowski in the race for the number nine role, although neither has been particularly clinical in front of goal of late.

With Gerard Martín suspended, Eric García is the most likely option to partner Marc Cubarsí in central defence. Eric will miss Tuesday’s Copa del Rey second leg against Atlético Madrid after being sent off in the first leg, so his availability this Saturday is assured. All indications suggest that Alejandro Balde will regain his starting place at left back, despite João Cancelo impressing in the last match. Jules Koundé is expected to start at right back, with Joan García in goal.
