David Beckham receives gift from Lionel Messi

The good relationship between Lionel Messi and David Beckham has been evident since the Argentine forward signed for Inter Miami. Beckham, one of the club’s owners, was key in getting the transfer over the line for Messi and since then the pair have been seen together on several occasions. And after spending some time together, Messi has passed on a very common Argentine habit to Beckham: drinking mate.
Last week, the 48-year-old ex-player posted a photo of himself drinking mate, with the caption: “If it’s good enough for Leo”. Messi responded to the post, saying: “I’m going to make you drink some good mate”. Beckham has since been showing off his new personalised mate set, gifted to him by Messi.
Beckham part of the Inter Miami gang
On Wednesday, the former Real Madrid man showed his new gift on his Instagram story. “Looks like I’m part of the gang,” wrote Beckham, who thanked Messi for the present.
In addition to Messi, Inter Miami have recently added Argentine pair Tomás Avilés and Facundo Farías to their ranks. They join fellow Argentinians Nicolás Stefanelli, Benjamin Cremaschi and Franco Negri in Tata Martino’s squad.
Avilés joins Inter Miami
Avilés has joined from Argentine side Racing for $9 million, signing a contract until the 2026 season, with the option of extending his stay for two more years.
