Bellingham misses Madrid training ahead of Champions League

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham did not train with the rest of the squad ahead of their LaLiga game against Real Betis, sparking fears over his availability in upcoming games.

Mario Cortegana of The Athletic broke the news, posting a photo of the team at the Valdebebas training ground with the caption “X Carvajal, Militao, Vallejo, Ceballos, Fede Valverde & Bellingham”, referencing the now extensive injury list for Carlo Ancelotti in the build up to a tough week.

However, despite the fear, the player was merely rested due to him not being available for Madrid’s next couple of fixtures.

Real Madrid injury update

While Bellingham’s absence initially came as a surprise, Dani Ceballos is set to be out for the medium-term future with a knee injury he sustained in the win over Girona in LaLiga.

The news comes at the worst possible time for Real Madrid and for the player himself, who had fought hard for a place in the starting XI and done well enough to earn his spot in the side, offering aspects in the play that Madrid had been crying out for.

Valverde’s absence is a minor issue, with the medical and coaching staff deciding to rest him in order to give him time to recover instead of playing through the pain. His versatility, while a key component of his game, also can work against him, as there is always a spot for Fede in the team.

The positive news is that Kylian Mbappé is back after missing the Copa del Rey game against Real Sociedad due to a dental issue. Endrick netted the only goal in a 0-1 away win for Los Blancos.
