Gio Reyna suffered several muscle injuries last season and missed 32 of Borussia Dortmund’s 46 matches across all competitions. The United States international’s campaign came to an end prematurely in April and he is expected to join the rest of the team during pre-season.

“Gio is working hard on his rehab,” the BVB head coach Edin Terzić told reporters.: “He did most of it in the United States in coordination with us. Like all other players, he will join us this weekend.”

Reyna too remain with BVB

The attacking midfielder was a regular starter at the beginning of last season but he lost his role due to the number of injuries he suffered. As he continues to recover and come back to full training it has been reported that Rangers are keen on signing Gio Reyna during the transfer window.

The Scottish side is managed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who has a very good relationship with Gio Reyna’s dad, and he believes that the 19-year-old will add more quality to the team. There were several whispers regarding his move to Rangers but according to Transfermarkt, the deal is ‘unlikely to be materialized.’

Per the report, Borussia Dortmund’s manager, Edin Terzić, wants to keep Reyna for the upcoming season. When healthy, the United States international is a regular starter for the Bundesliga side and he is expected to reach full fitness before the start of the 2022/23 Bundesliga campaign.
