Real Madrid take on Cádiz at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla this evening for their penultimate match of the 2021/22 league campaign.

Carlo Ancelotti has decided to rest Thibaut Courtois, Karim Benzema and Vinicius for the trip to Andalusia. Midfield maestro Luka Modric will miss the match through suspension after picking up a fifth yellow card against Levante on Thursday.

David Alaba, Marcelo, Isco, Gareth Bale and Luka Jovic are not in the matchday squad. Alaba is still recovering from his right adductor muscle issue. Marcelo has been ruled out with a calf problem. Centre-back Jesús Vallejo will travel to Cádiz with the rest of the squad.

“They will all be back next week,” Ancelotti said in the pre-match press conference on Saturday. Ancelotti is taking just 16 first team players and has called up four youth team players as he looks to keep his key players fresh before the Champions League final against Liverpool on 28 May in Paris.

Goalkeepers Toni Fuidias and Diego Piñeiro, centre-back Mario Gila and striker Juanmi Latasa have all been included in the squad.

Real Madrid’s possible XI vs Cádiz

Possible XI: Lunin; Carvajal, Militao, Nacho, Mendy; Camavinga/Valverde, Casemiro, Kroos; Asensio, Mariano, Rodrygo.

The Italian will have nine substitutes on the bench; Fuidias, Diego Piñeiro, Vallejo, Gila, Valverde or Camavinga, Ceballos, Lucas Vázquez, Hazard and Latasa.

Eduardo Camavinga, Ferland Mendy and Toni Kroos are all just one yellow card away from missing the final league game of the season against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabéu on 22 May.
