Carlo Ancelotti gives Kylian Mbappé transfer update

The Real Madrid boss spoke to reporters during his side’s USA preseason tour, insisting that he is satisfied with Los Blancos’ attacking options.

Will Kylian Mbappé sign for Real Madrid?

The fate of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappé still hangs in the balance, less than two weeks away from the start of the Ligue 1 season.

Mbappé has refused to sign an extension to his current deal, meaning that PSG stand to lose him, a player who cost them €180 million back in 2017, for free next year.

Understandably PSG are eager to bring about a sale this summer to ensure that they receive a fee for their prize asset. However Real Madrid, long presumed to be Mbappé’s next club, are unwilling to spend big on the 24-year-old this summer.

Speaking during the club’s preseason tour in the United States, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti insisted that he is content with the current state of his squad and is not looking to bring in another forward.

I think we are complete,” the Italian told reporters. “The new players are doing very well. Brahim [Diaz] and Joselu have shown that they can contribute to the team offensively. I think the team has a lot of attacking options to give us chances to score goals.”

Later on in the press conference Ancelotti was pressed specifically on the subject of Mbappé. Earlier this the week the Real Madrid boss had sounded irritated at the constant speculation regarding Mbappé’s move to Spain. This time around, Ancelotti was simply unwilling to engage.

“It doesn’t bother me when you ask me about [Mbappé],” Ancelotti said, “but I’m not going to answer.”

But now that Mbappé has rejected a billion-dollar offer from the Saudi Pro League, PSG may be forced to lower their asking price in a bid to encourage a concrete offer from Madrid. The Mbappé-Madrid transfer saga is far from over.
