Carlo Ancelotti returns to Real Madrid
The Brazil coach took advantage of a break to return to Madrid and visit his old club’s training complex as part of his current role.
Carlo Ancelotti made a surprise visit to Real Madrid’s training complex in Valdebebas, where he reunited with old friends and, in particular, checked on the fitness of the club’s Brazilian players.
The Italian took photos with most of the squad, including some of Real Madrid’s new signings, such as Marc Cucurella and Denzel Dumfries.
Ancelotti took advantage of a few days off to return to Madrid and attend a training session with his former team. He spent time talking with José Mourinho, Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Thibaut Courtois and Dean Huijsen, as well as chatting at length with the Brazilian contingent.
He was particularly affectionate toward Endrick, Rodrygo and Eder Militão, with the former Madrid coach seen spending time with all three.
Ancelotti keeping tabs on Brazilian players
Ancelotti will announce his squad for Brazil’s upcoming games on Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. ET. Vinicius Jr. is expected to be the only Real Madrid player included, with the club’s other Brazil internationals still recovering from injuries.
Brazil will face Australia in two friendlies during the upcoming international break, playing in Townsville on Sept. 25 and Brisbane on Sept. 29. The Seleção will then face India in a previously unseen matchup in Kolkata on Oct. 3.
Brazil is also scheduled to play Japan and Singapore in November. With those games on the horizon, Ancelotti was particularly interested in the progress of Militão, Rodrygo and Endrick.
