Carlo Ancelotti talks Bellingham, Valencia, Vinícius and more
The Real Madrid boss sat before the media on Friday to give his latest thoughts going into the game against Valencia.
Real Madrid welcome Valencia to the Santiago Berbabéu in La Liga this weekend as Los Blancos aim to return to the top of the table.
Carlo Ancelotti sat before the media on Friday to give his latest thoughts going into the game against Rubén Baraja’s young side.
What can the team improve on and has it reached the level you want?
At times we have been very good. What you try to find throughout the season is consistency. We have not been consistent at times, but for the moment I am quite satisfied with the team.
How has Vinícius been?
We haven’t spoken about that issue. Valencia are a good team, a team with intensity. That’s all we’ve talked about.
What about Arda Güler?
Before the game against Braga, it seemed like nothing, but it’s still bothering him. It’s not a serious thing. The player is down because he wants to play. It’s a small setback... It’s not a relapse of the old injury and we have the whole [international] break to get him back stronger.
Madrid player renewals and Bellingham
Are you envious of the contract renewals?
Envious of what? No. Not at all. We have time to do this. The future of this club is already written with these players. They renew because they are here and they like it a lot.
What is it like working with Valverde?
I am lucky to work with players who have extraordinary characteristics. I am proud to coach Real Madrid. If the young players progress well, it’s good for the club and for them. I’m left with the idea that these players are progressing because they are very good.
How is Bellingham and is he at risk if he plays?
He says that he is comfortable. He trained as normal today and is available. If nothing strange happens in the coming hours, I think he will play.
Can the debate on the goalkeepers be reopened?
There is always a debate. When Kepa has played he has done very well and when Lunin has been used he has done very well. Everyone can have good and bad spells and then the replacement has to be ready to come in.
How important is it to beat Valencia?
I like the way Valencia play; they are very well organised. We have to play well to get the points.
