Carlos Alcaraz outlines hugely ambitious goal for 2026 season
Alcaraz won two Grand Slams and ended 2025 as the world No. 1. The Spanish star is aiming for more next year.
Carlos Alcaraz is already looking ahead to the 2026 season with a focused target: the Australian Open, the only Grand Slam missing from his resume at just 22 years old. He also dreams of winning all four majors in the same year, a feat no male player has achieved since Rod Laver in 1969.
Grand Slams remain the ultimate goal
Speaking to the Australian Open organization, Alcaraz emphasized that Grand Slams are the pinnacle of his ambitions. “The main tournaments for me are the Grand Slams, and my goal is to win as many as I can. That is my primary objective. I think the Australian Open will be fantastic. It’s my first target, to be honest. When I plan my off-season and think about what I want to improve and achieve, the Australian Open is always on my mind. It’s the first or second tournament of the year, and my main goal has always been to complete the Grand Slam and win all four majors in the same year. I want to achieve it. I’ll try next year, but if not, I hope to do it in the next two, three, or four years.”
Rivalry with Sinner pushes him to excel
Alcaraz also spoke about his rivalry with Jannik Sinner, saying the Italian helps him raise his game. “I’m very grateful for my rivalry with Sinner because it pushes me to give 100 percent in every training session and every match. The level I need to maintain and reach to beat Jannik is really high.”
Following in Nadal’s footsteps
Alcaraz reflected on the milestone of winning a fifth Grand Slam at the same age Rafa Nadal did. “The coincidence of winning my fifth Grand Slam at the same age as Rafa Nadal feels like destiny. It’s a statistic I’ll always treasure, winning my fifth Grand Slam at the same time as my idol, my inspiration. It’s a huge honor.”
