César Huerta, bringing a smile back to Mexico
Goalkeeper Luis Ángel Malagón spoke highly of the Pumas player who will make his debut with the ‘Tri’ this weekend.
One of the more pleasing revelations in Jaime Lozano’s first squad list as Mexico’s full-time coach was the inclusion of César Huerta. El Chino has been one of the star performers for Pumas this season and gained his first call-up for the senior side. In all likelihood, he will make his debut in Saturday’s friendly against Australia and there are high expectations about what he can contribute out on the pitch. Off it, Huerta is also winning.
Goalkeeper Luis Ángel Malagón described the good vibes that the former Zacatepec player has brought to the Mexico camp. “(Lozano) introduced El Chino, Jordi [Cortizo] and Julián [Araújo]. You had to see Chino’s face... you really don’t realize until you go through it. It’s really nice to see those guys, you can see that they really want to be here,” the Azulcrema goalkeeper said.
Hopes renewed
Rubén Rodríguez, a journalist who covers Mexico’s national team, also spoke about the good atmosphere which the UANL winger has brought to the squad: ‘’You see his face and he is all happiness. What’s past is past, the new players don’t have to pay the piper,’’ he told Fox Sports.
Huerta, who made nine appearances for Mexico’s Under-17s, has started in all the matches of the 2023 Apertura tournament, scoring a couple of goals and giving out one assist.
