César Montes, the next Mexican player to test himself in Europe
The defender is very close to signing for Espanyol and starting his career in Europe.
César Montes is undoubtedly one of the standout players of Mexican football. The Rayados central defender performed well at the Qatar 2022 World Cup and will soon make the move to La Liga to join Espanyol. The 25-year-old is set to try his luck in Europe.
El Tri’s defence in Europe
Johan Vásquez, Gerardo Arteaga, Jorge Sánchez and César Montes could be the back four that the Mexican national football team will have over the coming years. The Genk full-back is a permanent fixture in Belgium, and Sánchez has earned his place with Ajax.
The former Universidad Nacional defender has not been able to get the desired minutes with Cremonese in Italy, although he belongs to Genoa and in the case of Montes, he will have to compete with Leandro Cabrera, Sergi Gomez and Fernando Calero in the defence of the ‘Periquitos’.
