Chelsea 0-1 Arsenal
Stamford Bridge: match report
A 63rd-minute toe-poke on the goal line from Brazilian defender Gabriel earned Arsenal a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and lifted them back to the top of the Premier League.
Gabriel, lurking at the far post, got on the end of a Bukayo Saka corner that flew past a line of Chelsea defenders.
Arsenal, pressing hard and moving the ball at pace, had the better of a highly-charged London derby but were profligate in front of goal, with Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Ben White missing chances against Graham Potter's side.
Chelsea's best efforts came on the counter-attack but they could produce only half-chances for Kai Havertz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling. (Reuters)

The whistle sounds and it ends 0-0 at the interval.
Final minute of the half and the scoreline is a fair reflection of what we've seen on the Stamford Bridge pitch. Arsenal have edged things and it's only been that Gabriel Jesus chance that one could call a 'clear goal scoring' chance.
We'll have an additional minute of time added on.

Free for Chelsea ...Xhaka clears the danger as Chelsea press now but as per most of the game it's the Arsenal fans who are making the bulk of the noise this afternoon.

Today's games will be the penultimate for both Chelsea and Arsenal before the league breaks for the World Cup which gets underway in Qatar in two weeks.
Next weekend, Chelsea travel to Newcastle as Arsenal face struggling Wolves at the Emirates.
Both teams are involved in EFL midweek action as Chelsea face Man City at the Etihad and Arsenal welcome Brighton to North London.
A genuine Super Sunday
Today's London derby is the first of five big Premier League games today with the likes of Spurs, Man United, Newcastle and West Ham in action.
CFC looking to address Premier League form
Having been thumped 4-1 by manager Graham Potter’s former club Brighton last weekend, Chelsea head into in Sunday’s Premier League clash on a run of three top-flight games without a victory. That loss was preceded by draws against Manchester United and Brentford.
CFC-AFC last year
In the corresponding fixture last season at the West London ground, Arsenal ran out 2-4 winners as Eddie Nketiah opened the scoring before Timo Werner equalised, and further goals from Smith Rowe and Cesar Azpilicueta made it 2-2 at the break. However, Nketiah and a late Saka penalty secured victory.
Artsenal XI
Mikel Arteta confirms his 11 player for the Stamford Bridge clash and it's a return to the side for Ukraine international.
CFC XI
Potter names his side ahead of the derby with Sterling, Auba and Havertz lead the line for the Blues.
No place in the starting line-up for US star Pulisic two weeks ahead of the start of the 2022 World Cup.
Derby day across Europe
The Stamford Bridge clash is just one of four high profile derby clashes in major European leagues with Serie set to host the Rome derby between Roma and Lazio followed by the Derby D'Italia as Juve welcome Inter. The Seville derby between Real Betis and Sevilla rounds off the final of the four.
Chelsea-Arsenal: match official
Experienced referee Michael Oliver has been as assigned to officiate today's Stamford Bridge clash. The 37-year-old Northumberland native has been an official FIFA listed referee since 2012.
Approaching the hour mark ahead of kick-off with the teams expected to be confirmed within the next 10-15 minutes.
What we do know is that Takehiro Tomiyasu, Matt Turner and Emile Smith Rowe are expected to be ruled out for the Gunners through injury with Kepa, James and Fofana set to be sidelined for Chelsea along with the previously mentioned Chilwell.
Chelsea-Arsenal: matchday weather
It's a grey and wet Sunday morning in London with plenty of rain forecast for the next few hours with a current temperature of 13C-55F.
This is how the top of the Premier League table looks ahead of Sunday's games. The North London side are just a point behind leaders City as Chelsea lie in th place with 21 points.
Arteta on Chelsea
Speaking to the media ahead of the Stamford Bridge, Arsenal's manager Arteta claimed that Chelsea are: "really consistent, the results that they’ve had recently since Graham took over you can see what he’s trying to do and we will be ready and will start to prepare for the game from tonight.
"You can see that he has put his ideas in, like he did with Brighton. We need to play better than them, earn the right to win, and score one more goal than them."
"Recently, it hasn't gone so well (Potter)
Speaking ahead of the derby, Chelsea boss Potter stated:
"Recently, it hasn't gone so well," Potter said, with Chelsea having won only one of their last five league meetings with Arsenal.
"It's a London derby and anything can happen in the game. We want to be positive, play well and get the crowd involved in the game."
Potter added that goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is unlikely to feature for Chelsea before the World Cup, while midfielder Mateo Kovacic will be in contention for the Arsenal clash after returning to training on Friday.
Aubameyang 'excited' for Arsenal reunion
Chelsea's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is "excited" for his Arsenal reunion when the two clubs face off today in the London derby but manager Graham Potter wanted the narrative to steer away from the striker as his side seek a morale-boosting victory.
Aubameyang fell out with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta last season over disciplinary issues. He was first stripped of the captaincy and had his contract terminated ahead of a February move to Barcelona.
The Gabon international, 33, scored 92 times in more than 150 appearances for Arsenal and returned to the Premier League in September, crossing the London divide to sign for Chelsea where he has scored three times in 11 games so far.
"The history makes it an interesting one for Auba. But the past is the past as far as we're concerned," Potter told reporters on Friday. "I don't think we should make it about him.
"He is an important part of the team for us but it takes everybody, not just one person. I understand the interest around him because it's Arsenal. I think he's looking forward to the game, excited for it."
Chelsea earned a much-needed victory in the Champions League in midweek after a slump in their domestic form, having floundered against Brentford and Manchester United and endured a 4-1 humiliation at Potter's old club Brighton & Hove Albion.
Chilwell absence
Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell will miss the 2022 World Cup with England due to a “significant” hamstring injury. Chilwell suffered the injury in Chelsea’s 2-1 Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday in what is a major blow for Gareth Southgate.
The England international confirmed the news on his social media channels on Saturday: “Following my ACL injury I worked so hard to make sure I was ready for the World Cup. It has always been a dream of mine. Unfortunately, this won’t be possible following my scan results. I’ll do all I can to get back playing for Chelsea ASAP. Thanks for the messages of support.”
Possible Chelsea XI vs Arsenal:
This is the possible CFC XI for today's clash against Arsenal
Mendy; Chalobah, Silva, Koulibaly; Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Kovacic, Cucurella; Mount, Aubameyang, Sterling.
Chelsea have only managed one win against the Gunners in their past six meetings in all competitions with Mikel Arteta's men hoping that the this vein of consistency against the 'Blues' is maintained with a win enough to propel Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League table.
A draw would keep Arsenal in second place with Man City holding a superior goal difference.
The action in West London gets underway at 12:00 local time, which is 8:00am ET, 5:00am PT
