Gabriel Slonina has a bright future ahead of him and at 18-years-old he earned the starting role with the Chicago Fire during the 2021 MLS campaign. The American goalkeeper has made 14 appearances this campaign, allowing 20 goals and keeping five clean sheets.

European clubs keen on signing Slonina

Last month it was reported that La Liga giants Real Madrid were going to make a formal bid to sign Gabriel Slonina. The Chicago Fire were waiting for the first proposal to arrive soon but it seems that it was not good enough, because now Chelsea are the frontrunners to sign the 18-year-old goalkeeper.

The West London team was one signature away from signing Slonina in February but due to the change of owners, the sanctions and restrictions they had to put a pause on the deal. That is when Madrid approached the MLS side and sent a formal offer that was rejected earlier this month.

Slonina has his mind set on playing with the Blues and according to multiple reports, he is one signature away from joining Chelsea. The Blues are expected to pay €10 million to the Chicago Fire for Gabriel Slonina. The 18-year-old is set to remain in Major League Soccer on loan this season and join the Stamford Bridge side in January.
