The Los Angeles Galaxy lost 3-0 against Houston Dynamo on Sunday night at the Dignity Health Sports Park, their second consecutive home defeat and the second time they have conceded three goals.

The breakdowns are a very negative performance from all of us. It’s the second time that we conceded three goals in our home. In our fortress. We are being very naïve in soccer IQ. We need to improve all of us. We need to be more decisive because we think that one simple pass from five yards doesn’t matter, but everything counts,” said Javier Hernández after the game.

“Everything matters. Every turn, every pass, every tackle. Every intuition, like a play. Everything. We need to wake up because if not, we’re going to go into an even deeper hole. And we don’t want that. So we need to wake up, all of us, we need to have that desire, that hunger, that confidence. That if we want to be champions, we cannot be playing like this at home.

“They played very well. But right now, we are dominating, we are playing pretty well and then we concede three goals with decisions that all of us can prevent. And I’m the first one. The situation is like, we need to improve way, way better. We are LA Galaxy players, it’s not any organization, it’s the best one. You need to be one of the best players in the world to be here. So, we need to keep it up,” concluded the Mexican international.

Hernández started the season on top form, scoring five goals in the first six matches, but the Mexican international has struggled to find the back of the net in the last seven league games. The LA Galaxy captain was frustrated with the performance as a team but he is hopeful that they can turn things around before it is to late in the season.

Galaxy drop to fifth

In the 11th minute goalkeeper Jonathan Bond saved Corey Baird’s shot from close range, but the rebound fell to Carlos Ferreira to convert from the six-yard box. Then in the 58th minute Tyler Pasher cut inside onto his left foot and shot from long range, placing the ball in the top right-hand corner of the net. Four minutes later, Thor Ulfarsson received a pass inside the box and dribbled past a Galaxy defender to make it 3-0.

The Galaxy have not won in their last three league games and have dropped to the fifth place in the Western Conference. They have played seven home games so far in the 2022 MLS regular season and they hold a record of four wins and three losses. Next up, the Galaxy will host LAFC in the Round of 16 of the 2022 Lamar Hunt US Open cup on Wednesday night.
