WOMEN'S WORLD CUP 2023
Chicharito reacts to Alex Morgan’s superb assist for USWNT at 2023 Women’s World Cup
The top scorer in the history of the men’s Mexican national team appeared rather impressed with the US star’s touch, which helped open the scoring.
Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández continues to recover from an injury he suffered during a US Soccer Cup match, which led him to undergo surgery on a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee. Meanwhile, the all-time top scorer for Mexico used his spare time to watch the match between the United States and Vietnam at the Women’s World Cup 2023.
Morgan assist on fire
The LA Galaxy striker, who has been very active on his newly acquired Threads account, could not hide sharing his feelings after seeing the pass from Alex Morgan that ended with the USWNT’s first goal, as the legendary forward assisted Sophia Smith with a first-time ‘taquito’ pass.
Alex Morgan’s handle, ‘assist’, and some fire emojis, were enough to get his message across. And it wasn’t just any assist, it saw Morgan reach 50 wearing the United States jersey.
The game ended with a very comfortable 3-0 victory for the USWNT, who are in search of an unprecedented third consecutive world title.
Chicharito embracing recovery path
Meanwhile, back to the Mexican striker. Recently, on David Meltzer’s podcast ‘Playbook’, he gave an update on his situation.
“Yeah, I’m 35 and the narrative is very negative towards you because you’re an athlete and this happens when you’re ‘older’.
“This isn’t happening when I’m 21 or 22, so my mindset is that I’m capable of doing this, I’m not going to run away from emotions and situations, because yes, getting hit in the face hurts, of course it’s painful, apart from physical pain, but I don’t run away from it, I embrace it.”
