Javier Hernández spent a season on loan at Real Madrid but his brief spell in the Spanish capital left him with many happy memories. Chicharito was not in the media spotlight during his time with Los Blancos due to his high-profile team mates such as Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodríguez, Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos.

In fact, out of the 35 appearances he made for the club that season, he made just 12 starts. Nevertheless, he finished the campaign with a respectable nine goals and nine assists.

But the Mexican did manage to create a space for himself in the squad and recalled what life was like inside the galactic locker room in an interview with Paramount+: ‘’Apart from the respect and admiration I was shown in that locker room, it was incredible to have those players as team mates,” he explained.

“Imagine how easy they made everything plus the advantage of having them as team mates and not as rivals... Playing with Cristiano is incredible, many people don’t mention it but having them there is amazing. I don’t know a single football player who says that Cristiano is a difficult player,’’ says Mexico’s all-time top goal scorer.

Hernández won the Club World Cup with Madrid - the team’s only trophy that season as they missed out on LaLiga and were knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals by Juventus in Carlo Ancelotti’s first stint on the bench. Madrid and Chicharito also saw their Copa del Rey campaign cut short, losing to Atlético in the Round of 16.
