Chivas fined for playing at Jalisco Stadium

On Monday the club received a fine from the Disciplinary Commission for the change of venue corresponding to their matchday 14 Apertura 2023 game.

Chivas’ one-off temporary move to the Jalisco Stadium to play its match last Saturday against Tigres has not been as positive as expected. In the stands, the fans had a party, but on the field, the Sacred Flock lost 0-4 to the side from Nuevo Leon and on Monday the club were hit with a fine from the Liga MX Disciplinary Commission for the change of venue.

“An economic sanction is determined for Club Guadalajara given that the match corresponding to Matchday 14 of the 2023 Apertura Tournament, between Guadalajara and Tigres de la UANL clubs changed venue, thus violating the sanctions regulations of the Mexican Federation of Football, specifically article 51 Subsection a), as well as the Competition Regulations in Article 88 of the Liga MX,” explained the Disciplinary Commission.

Guadalajara were forced to change the venue of the game against Tigres 14 due to the state of the field. On Wednesday, Akron Stadium hosted a concert with The Weeknd playing in the Mexican city and the playing surface was badly damage which prompted the club to make the request to play at Jalisco Stadium, which was their home for 50 years.

Chivas were also given a warning about future scheduling clashes with the Disciplinary Commission threatening tim impose further fines.“The Guadalajara club has been warned should this type of situation occur again”, concluded the Disciplinary Commission statement issued on Monday night.
