Christian Pulisic could be offered to Juventus as makeweight in De Light deal
Chelsea are on the lookout for a defender and have alighted on Juve’s Matthijs de Ligt and could offer Timo Werner or the USMNT international as part of a deal.
With the departure of Antonio Rüdiger to Real Madrid and the possible exit of Andreas Christensen to Barcelona, Chelsea are in the market for a new defender during the summer transfer window. The Premier League side have set their sights on Matthijs de Ligt and Juventus could be interested in a part-exchange deal involving one or both of two Chelsea players.
Pulisic could replace Dybala
The Serie A side has put a £70 million price tag on the Dutchman and they could ask that Christian Pulisic be included as part of a swap deal. De Ligt is not overly keen on extending his contract with Juventus and several reports indicate that the 22-year-old has requested a move to the Premier League.
Manchesters United and City are also interested in De Ligt but Juventus have been keeping tabs on Pulisic and Timo Werner as possible replacements for Paulo Dybala, who confirmed his exit at the end of the season. The Argentina international left the No 10 jersey vacant and Pulisic could be his successor.
The United States international is not happy with his current role under Thomas Tuchel and wants more playing time with the World Cup around the corner. As such, Chelsea have the upper hand in the race for De Ligt with Werner and Pulisic as bargaining tools in the negotiations to bring the price down.
