Update:

After struggling for consistency in the Premier League, Christian Pulisic has proven his elite level credentials during an impressive first 18 months with AC Milan.

The USMNT forward, now 26, has established himself as one of the stars of Serie A with a consistently high performance level. AC Milan paid €22 million to bring him from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 and he know looks to be a shrewd investment.

On Monday Italian soccer expert Daniele Longo reported that Pulisic could soon be receiving a contract extension with Milan, keeping him at the club until 2028. The Italian club were though to hold a renewal option with Pulisic but they have also rewarded his good form with a salary increase, reportedly going from €4 million to €5 million net per season.

Liverpool were reportedly interested in bringing Pulisic back to the Premier League but a contract extension would go a long way to warding off talk of a Milan departure.

When will Christian Pulisic return from injury?

Earlier this month Pulisic suffered a torn muscle in his right calf during a 2-1 loss to Atalanta. He hobbled from the field in the first half and was not expected to return to play again this year.

However Milan has issued a positive update on his injury recovery, suggesting that Pulisic may be available to feature in the Serie A game against Roma on December 29. Despite Pulisic’s good form this season Milan find themselves down in eighth position, putting their hopes of a return to the Champions League next year in real doubt.

Milan have struggled without Pulisic in recent weeks, drawing at home to Genoa and losing to Verona in the two games since his injury. If Paolo Fonseca’s team are to turn things around, they will need Pulisic to re-find his form very soon.
