Life at AC Milan has started pretty well for Christian Pulisic. The American forward grabbed his first goal for the club in their 2-0 win over Bologna in Serie A on Monday night. The USMNT captain scored with a spectacular effort from 20 yards after Olivier Giroud’s early opener.

The former Chelsea man played a one-two with Giroud before unleashing from 20 yards with his right foot. Bologna shot-stopper Lukasz Skorupski was left with no chance as it flew past him into the corner to double Milan’s lead in their season opener.

Milan were buying more than Pulisic’s goals and assists, though. They signed a star in the US, someone who would help to build their brand across the Atlantic. As reported by The Athletic, shirt sales at Milan are up 75 per cent on a standard equivalent period and the increase in the States has been massive - a huge 713 per cent at the time of writing.

Pulisic’s jersey sales

The share of jersey sales in the States has gone from nine per cent of Milan’s total to 43 per cent. Milan’s ticket sales for their tour in the US naturally increased due to the involvement of Pulisic in the club’s attacking department.

Eyes on Serie A

Milan jerseys with Pulisic on the back account for a very healthy 45 per cent of all jerseys sold since he joined the Rossoneri from Chelsea, proving just how shrewd a signing it is for the Serie A giants. As well as Milan benefitting as a club, Serie A as a league will also have extra eyes on it in 2023-24 as a result of the club’s summer investment.
