Club América confirm that Miguel Layún stays for the Clausura 2023 campaign

The Aguilas confirmed that the Mexico international will play for the Coapa side for the forthcoming tournament.

The waiting game is over after Club América finally confirmed the the continuity of Miguel Layún with the Coapa team ahead of the Clausura 2023 tournament. The announcement was made through its social media channels with the simple message “Layún stays”.

The Twitter post was accompanied by a highlights video offering Layún’s best moments in his second spell with América and featured the player giving a rousing speech to his team-mates.

In the 2022 Apertura, Layún played in 13 regular tournament games giving 5 assists for a total of 677 minutes. In the Liguilla he started in the second leg against Puebla and was a key player for Aguilas head coach Fernando Ortiz.

Layún is back at América after playing for the likes of Watford (England), Porto and brief spells with Sevilla and Villarreal in Spain. He returned to Liga MX in 2019 joining Rayados before moving to Coapa inJune 2021.
