Club América suffered a 3-1 defeat against Pachuca over the weekend and Óscar Jiménez had one of his worst performances since being named the starting goalkeeper for the Clausura 2023. The veteran shot-stopper made some big mistakes against Los Tuzos that cost them the three points and now they have dropped to sixth place in the standings after 10 fixtures.

So the head coach of Club América, Fernandot Ortíz, is contemplating to bench Jiménez and give Luis Malagón the opportunity against Tigres UANL on Saturday at Estadio Universitario. The capital-based team is having a complicated start of the tournament with four wins, five draws and one loss. Óscar Jiménez has conceded 14 goals in 10 games and Ortíz is ready to make the change before it is too late.

Changes during Monday’s training session

According to TUDN, Luis Malagón trained with the starting team at Monday’s session and Óscar Jiménez was sent with the substitutes. Fans have also been pressuring Club América on social media and pleading not to play Jiménez for the rest of the tournament because of the mistakes that he has caused the team.

Jiménez made two crucial mistakes against Pachuca over the weekend and losing their first match of the campaign didn’t sit well with Fernando Ortíz or the fans. At the same time, Club América is aware that Malagón is not the shot-stopper that the team needs if they are aspiring to win the Liga MX trophy, so the people in charge are looking to sign Camilo Vargas from Atlas for the next tournament.
