Club América’s Gutiérrez mystery solved

Among the most criticized was midfielder Alexis Gutiérrez, whose absence from the match against Chivas sparked outrage and confusion.

So far this season, Gutiérrez has logged just 172 minutes across four appearances and hasn’t featured in Liga MX action since August 9, when América edged Querétaro 1-0 on Matchday 4. For a player acquired at a reported cost of nearly $5 million, his contribution has been minimal.
