LEAGUES CUP 2023
Club León vs Real Salt Lake: why was the Leagues Cup game postponed and when will it be played?
The Liga MX vs MLS clash was unable to get underway at America First Field in Utah, with a new date scheduled.
Not for the first time in the 2023 League Cup, we’ve seen a game postponed due to electrical storms in the vicinity of the stadium in which the fixture has been played. On this occasion, Club León vs Real Salt Lake at America First Field in Sandy, Utah is the game in question.
Vázquez’s two-day hat-trick for Cincinnati vs Chivas
Last week, Guadalajara vs FC Cincinnati was brought to a halt after an hour of play, with the MLS side leading 2-0 at the time. Fans of the Mexican side rather hopefully suggested the match should be replayed from the beginning, but the final 30 minutes were ultimately played at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati the following day, with USMNT attacker Brandon Vázquez netting a two-day hat-trick in a 3-1 victory for his side.
Leagues Cup organisers took over three-and-a-half hours to make the decision to definitively call off that game and restart it the next day, which drew plenty of criticism online, especially from fans inside the stadium who were left in limbo.
