World Cup 2026

Colombia, one of the teams heading to the World Cup with the worst results

Taking into account the last 20 matches of each team, the Tricolor only accumulated more points than Scotland, Uruguay, Bosnia, Ghana and Qatar.

Update:

Colombia’s March international window was a harsh reality check. With the World Cup just months away, Néstor Lorenzo’s team faced two opponents who’ve reached the late stages of recent tournaments—and in both matches, Colombia walked away with more concerns than confidence. Losses to Croatia and France, along with a shaky collective performance, defined the latest FIFA break.

While what truly matters is how the team—and its key players—arrive at the World Cup in June and July, the most recent friendlies made it clear that Colombia is far from its best form. A new report from Uruguay’s Ovación underscores that point, ranking Colombia among the World Cup teams with the weakest results heading into the tournament.

Colombia, near the bottom of the pre‑World Cup rankings

The ranking was based on points earned over each national team’s last 20 matches, whether friendlies or qualifiers. Colombia sits 43rd out of 48, with only 29 points collected.

Among all World Cup participants, Colombia is ahead of only Scotland, Uruguay, Bosnia, Ghana, and Qatar. Every one of Colombia’s group‑stage opponents has performed better over their last 20 games:

  • Congo: 44 points
  • Uzbekistan: 40 points
  • Portugal: 40 points

The top team in the ranking is Morocco, with 49 out of a possible 60 points. Spain (48) and Senegal (47) round out the top three. Argentina, in sixth place with 45 points, is the highest‑ranked South American team.

What’s next for Colombia?

Colombia opens its World Cup campaign on June 17, facing Uzbekistan at Estadio Azteca. Before that, the team will play its final two warm‑up friendlies against Costa Rica and Jordan.

With the clock ticking, the pressure is on. The March window didn’t offer many answers—but it did make one thing clear: Colombia has work to do before the world is watching.
