Como pushes for Gonzalo: Why Cesc Fàbregas’ project is gaining momentum

Gonzalo will be listening to offers this summer and there is serious interest from Italy. Madrid seek a transfer formula with a buy-back option.

Como want Gonzalo — badly. But wanting a player and landing him are two very different things, and summer transfer windows tend to stretch forever. Still, the interest is real, and everyone involved agrees this won’t be a quick, simple deal.

Gonzalo needs playing time — he logged just 1,471 minutes this season (29% of the total) — and Endrick’s return only tightens the bottleneck. His dream remains to succeed at Real Madrid, but sometimes the road to the Bernabéu requires a stopover. A temporary exit can be a path back. That’s how he sees it, no matter what happens.

And in that context, one name is gaining traction: Cesc Fàbregas. The Como manager wants Gonzalo for a historic challenge — playing in the Champions League this season.

Interest, but no formal offer

Right now, it’s just that: interest. No bid, no formal talks. But all sides are aware of the possibility.

From Italy, the message is clear: Como would like to repeat the formula used with Jacobo Ramón or Nico Paza permanent transfer with a buy‑back clause. Real Madrid keeps a future option, Como gets a key player, and Gonzalo maintains a bridge back to Chamartín. That setup appeals to him.

Como’s Spanish flavor — and why Gonzalo fits

Como reached the Champions League thanks to Milan’s collapse on the final matchday and their own best season ever: 71 points, just five behind Napoli. Their roster is packed with Spanish talent: Jacobo Ramón, Álex Valle, Alberto Moreno, Sergi Roberto, Jesús Rodríguez, Morata, plus Cesc on the sideline. Add familiar LaLiga names like Diego Carlos and Douvikas, and you get a bold, attack‑minded team — the second‑highest scoring side in Serie A.

Como is also scouting Spain heavily. Beyond Gonzalo, they’re tracking two La Fábrica gems: Fortea and Yáñez, both 19. With Castilla missing out on promotion, their futures are wide open. The arrival of Dumfries blocks Fortea’s path to Madrid’s first team, and if Michael Olise signs, Yáñez will face the same issue. A season abroad — an “Erasmus year” — is firmly on the table.

Gonzalo and La Roja: close, but not quite

Gonzalo spent recent days keeping an eye on Spain’s national team. He didn’t make the final 26‑man squad, but he was on the preliminary list and part of the support group — meaning he was next in line if an injury opened a spot.It was unlikely, but not impossible. And it kept him mentally tied to La Roja even while on vacation.

Endrick returns — and the competition tightens

Now that this unusual waiting period is over, Gonzalo turns to his future. He’ll speak with Mourinho, with the club, and with his inner circle before deciding.

What’s certain: Endrick is back. His arrival makes Gonzalo’s path to minutes even steeper. Despite an up‑and‑down season, Gonzalo still produced: eight goals, averaging one every 184 minutes. He has firepower, personality, and edge — traits Como loves. Hence the siren calls.

It’s going to be a long summer. And the interest is very real.
